A few days ago, American outdoor brand Patagonia sued American fashion group Gap Inc., accusing it of illegally copying the iconic nylon pocket design on Patagonia's more than three decades-old wool jacket.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday night in federal court in San Francisco, Patagonia said Gap allegedly knowingly copied and sold wool jackets that mimicked the brand's nylon pocket design and "P-6" logo.

Patagonia alleges that the lawsuit aims to require Gap to remedy the loss of brand profits and corresponding reputational damages, and to prevent further infringement.
